Recently thrifted

Ok. My first blog post in English. I've been wondering about changing to writing just in English, but... Maybe I should write both in English and Norwegian? Or maybe I should have a category just with English posts? I still feel like writing mainly in Norwegian, but it would be fun to reach more people and get to know others with the same interests as me. Since they are seemingly few and far about here in Norway ;) Or maybe I should get another blog?

Enough about that. These are the results of my last dumpster searches and thrift shop hunts. Above is a photo of my bathroom shelf. Most of it is used, found, thrifted or inherited. The new addition is the brownish tinted vase and the glass with cotton in it. Found in the local dumpster! As for the rest of it; the tablecloth is thrifted, so is the small plate with jewelery in it. The silver plate bowls (with rocks from a Cretan beach) are inherited from my grandmother and so is the crystal jar (I think she found it on the dumpster!). The jewel box on the right has been in the family for as long as I can remember - I don't know where it's from. I use it for q-tips. The basket is from Ikea and the Moroccan-style plate is from Kremmerhuset. My jewelry-branch is from the wood outside my front door...

This cool chair was found on the dumpster... I just can't believe what people throw away... That being said - we were there with a small truck full of "stash" and trash from the cellar... It's so liberating in a way - to get rid of things just piling up and collecting dust in the basement, but it still feels wrong to throw away things that can still be used (And I think it should feel wrong). Thankfully there was a tent there to put "things" and furniture that others may want. Most of what we buy/get is secondhand, so I allow myself to feel just a little less sad about it all...

The lampshade below was thrifted a while ago at a local fleamarket (I just love love love anything with ivy on it!), but got lost somewhere behind the other dust collecting stuff in the basement. Still don't know where to put it though...

This dress was sewn from old sheets and bedclothes bought at the Salvation Army shop. It still lacks buttons - I'm going hunting for some soon. One can never have too many buttons ;)
